Electroluminescence is a kind of light that happens when electricity passes through a material. Electroluminescence can be used to make things like TV screens, light-up signs, and big advertisements you see outside of buildings. To make electroluminescence work, electricity passes through a special material called phosphor, which is like a very tiny piece of glass. When electricity hits the phosphor, it glows, and it keeps glowing until there is no more electricity.
