Elephanta Caves

The Elephanta Caves are a group of really old caves that are located on an island near Mumbai in India. A long time ago, people made these caves by carving out the rock with special tools. Inside the caves, there are big statues of gods and goddesses that people used to worship.

Some of the caves are really big and have many rooms, while others are smaller and have just one or two rooms. It's like a big house made out of rock! Many years ago, people used to come to these caves to pray and do special rituals.

Nowadays, people go to see the Elephanta Caves to learn about the history and culture of the people who used to live there. It's like a special museum where you can see really old things that people used to make a long, long time ago.
