Elizabeth Holmes
Elizabeth Holmes is a lady who started a company called Theranos. This company said they could do blood tests without taking a lot of blood from people's veins. They said they could do it just by pinching someone's finger. People were really excited because getting blood taken can be scary and it hurts a little bit.
Elizabeth was really smart and worked really hard. She talked to a lot of people about what Theranos was doing and lots of people gave her money to help her company grow. Lots of important people like former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger and high profile investors poured millions of dollars into Theranos.
But, something not so good happened later. It turned out that Theranos was not doing things the right way. They were not really doing the tests they said they could do. Some people got sick because the results of the tests they were given were wrong. The machines that were supposed to do the tests didn't work the right way. Elizabeth said things about Theranos that were not true. She was breaking the rules of how to do things properly.
So, a lot of people who gave Elizabeth money were not happy with her. Some people even said she was lying about everything on purpose. She had to go to court and she lost a lot of money. Her company Theranos had to close down. People were really upset and disappointed.
