Emblems of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement

The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is made up of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), and the 192 Red Cross and Red Crescent National Societies that make up the movement. These red symbols are a recognition of their status as a neutral humanitarian organization. The red cross is the symbol of the ICRC, and the red crescent is the symbol of the IFRC. The symbols are used to show the help and support that the Red Cross and Red Crescent give to people all over the world, like when there is a disaster such as an earthquake or floods. They help people by providing food, shelter and medical care. The symbols also show that the Red Cross and Red Crescent is a movement that people can rely on to help in difficult times.
