ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Embrasure

An embrasure is like a little window or opening in a castle wall where people can look through or shoot arrows out of. Imagine a small space in the wall where a person can stand and see what's happening outside, but also be protected from getting hit or attacked. The space is usually just big enough for one person to stand in and has slanted sides to protect the person from arrows or other weapons from the outside. The word "embrasure" comes from an old French word that means "to make an opening." So, an embrasure is like a special opening in a castle wall to help defend the castle.
