ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Emergent curriculum

Emergent curriculum is when a teacher uses a child’s interests and ideas to develop their own lesson plans for the students. This means that the teacher pays attention to the things that the students are interested in and talk about, and finds ways to turn those interests into learning activities. For example, if a student is really interested in outer space, the teacher might find activities related to planets, stars and other space topics and plan lessons around them. This way, the student is having fun learning about something that they care about.
