Encrypted Media Extensions

Ok, so when you watch videos online, sometimes people don't want other people to be able to watch those videos too. So they use a special way to make it so only certain people can watch it. That special way is called "encryption."

But sometimes your computer or phone doesn't know how to "unencrypt" the video, so it can't play the video for you. That's where encrypted media extensions come in!

Encrypted media extensions are like little codes that your computer or phone use to figure out how to unencrypt the video so you can watch it. So it's like a secret password that the video has, and the encrypted media extension helps your computer or phone guess the password so you can watch the video.

It's important to have encrypted media extensions so that people can still watch their videos even when they're not at the computer where the video was made. But sometimes people don't like encrypted media extensions because they worry that it could be used to make it harder for people to share videos freely.
