ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

End-of-file

End-of-file (or EOF) is when a computer program comes to the end of a document or file. This might happen when you're reading a book, watching a movie, or looking at a picture. When a computer reaches the end of the file it has been instructed to read, it stops and no more information can be seen. EOF typically means that there isn't any more data left in the document or file.
