Endemism

Endemism is when something is found only in one specific place and nowhere else. Imagine if you had a very special toy that is only sold in your neighborhood and no other kid in the world has it. That toy would be endemic to your neighborhood. The same thing happens with plants and animals. Some plants and animals only live in one specific area of the world and can't be found anywhere else. They are endemic to that location. This happens because these plants and animals have adapted to their environment in a certain way that makes it impossible for them to live anywhere else. So, remember, endemism means something is only found in one specific place and nowhere else.
