Endophthalmitis

Endophthalmitis is an infection that happens inside your eye. Think of your eye like a little house, with different parts that help you see. Inside that house, there are tiny little creatures called bacteria that can sometimes sneak in when we get a cut or scratch on our eye. These bacteria then start to grow and multiply, causing an infection in the eye.

Now, the eye is a very important part of our body, so if there is an infection inside it, it can cause some serious problems. It can make our vision blurry, cause pain, and sometimes even lead to blindness. That's why it's important to treat endophthalmitis as soon as possible.

Doctors will typically use antibiotics (kind of like magic medicine that fights off bacteria) to try and kill the bad bacteria in the eye. They might also need to do surgery to clean out the infection or remove any damaged parts of the eye. It can be a big deal, but with the right treatment, people can usually recover and get back to seeing clearly again.
