ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Energy & Environment

Energy and environment are two things that are closely related to one another. Energy is required to power the things we use everyday, like lights, computers, and appliances. The environment is the natural world and everything in it, like plants, animals, and the air we breathe.

When we use energy, like burning fossil fuels (coal, oil, and gas) to generate electricity, we can pollute the environment. This means that the air, water, and land are not as clean and healthy as they should be.

We can use energy in ways that don't hurt the environment, like using solar panels to generate electricity by collecting the energy from the Sun. We can also use energy more efficiently, like switching to energy-efficient lightbulbs and appliances. By using energy more efficiently and using renewable energy sources, like wind and solar, we can help protect the environment and keep it healthy for generations to come.
