ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Energy hierarchy

Energy hierarchy is a way of looking at different forms of energy. It shows us the different levels of energy, ranked from the least amount of energy to the most amount of energy. For example, energy from a battery in your remote control would have less energy than energy from a car battery. Energy from the sun has the most energy, followed by energy stored in fossil fuels like oil and coal. The more energy something has, the more it can do. That's why we use lots of energy from the sun and fossil fuels to power our homes and cars.
