ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Engagement (military)

Engagement in military means when a group of soldiers go into a fight with another group of soldiers. Just like during a game of tag, when you touch someone else, engagement is when soldiers are touching each other with guns or punching. It's a very serious game and you need to be brave to do it. When soldiers are engaged in a fight, they try to protect their friends and themselves, while also trying to defeat the other side. It's like playing a game of tug-of-war, but with guns and grenades.
