English irregular verbs

Okay kiddo, so do you know what a verb is? It's a word that shows an action. For example, the word "jump" is a verb because it shows an action of someone jumping.

Now, most verbs in English follow a pattern when we change them to show different tenses. For example, when we want to show that an action is happening right now, we add -ing at the end of the verb. So "jump" becomes "jumping."

But some verbs, which we call irregular verbs, don't follow this pattern. Instead, they have their own special way of changing. For example, the verb "go" doesn't become "going" when we want to show it's happening now. Instead, we say "I am going."

There are many irregular verbs in English, like "choose" which becomes "chose" when we talk about the past, or "eat" which becomes "ate."

It can be tricky to remember all of the irregular verbs, but the more you practice and read, the easier it will become. Just remember that irregular verbs don't follow the same pattern as most other verbs, so you need to memorize their special changes.
