Imagine you have a very big bag of toys. You want to know how heavy this bag of toys is. You know how heavy one toy is, and you also know how many toys are in the bag. So you can multiply the weight of one toy by the number of toys in the bag to find out how heavy the whole bag is.
Now, in England, they used to have a way of measuring weight called a "ton." It's like a really, really big bag that people use to transport things like coal or grain. A ton is equal to 2,240 pounds, which is a whole lot heavier than your bag of toys.
So if you wanted to know how much a ton of something weighs, all you have to do is picture a really big bag filled with that thing. For example, a ton of feathers would be a much bigger bag than a ton of rocks, because feathers are very light and rocks are very heavy.
Nowadays, most people use other systems of weight measurement, like kilograms or pounds, but the English ton is still used in some industries.
