Environmental impact of paint

Paint is a liquid that we use to cover walls or other surfaces with a layer of a certain color. Paint can have a negative environmental impact because when it is made, some of the materials used to make it can cause pollution. For example, lots of paint includes chemicals that come from petroleum which can release harmful gases into the air when it is made. Paint also takes a long time to break down, so it can harm plants and animals if it gets into rivers or lakes.
