Enzyme promiscuity

Okay kiddo, so you know how enzymes are like tiny helpers in your body that help break down food and other stuff to keep you healthy?

Well, sometimes these enzymes can be really helpful and do more than just one job! It's kind of like when you have a toy with lots of different buttons and switches - sometimes, one button can do more than one thing.

That's what we call enzyme promiscuity. It means that an enzyme can do more than just one job! For example, let's say there's an enzyme called "Enzyme A" and its job is to break down a certain kind of sugar. Well, sometimes, Enzyme A can also break down a different,sugar that's a little bit similar. This means that Enzyme A is being promiscuous!

It's like if you were really good at playing soccer, but it turned out you were also really good at playing basketball. You're being a little bit promiscuous with your sports skills, right?

So basically, enzyme promiscuity happens when an enzyme is good at doing more than one job. It's like having a toy with lots of fun buttons that can all do different things!
