Epic Systems Corp. v. Lewis

Okay kiddo, so Epic Systems Corp. is a company that makes software that helps doctors and hospitals keep track of important things about their patients. They had a rule that their employees couldn't sue them in court if they had a problem, they had to go to arbitration instead.

But there was a guy named Lewis who worked for Epic Systems, and he wanted to sue them for some stuff that happened at work. He didn't like that he had to go to arbitration instead of court.

So, a big group of lawyers and judges had to decide if Epic Systems was allowed to make their employees go to arbitration instead of court.

In the end, the lawyers and judges said that Epic Systems could make their employees go to arbitration. They said that the rule was okay because it was in the agreement that Lewis signed when he started working for them.

So that's what happened in the case of Epic Systems Corp. v. Lewis.
