Epicanthoplasty

Epicanthoplasty is a type of surgery that changes the shape of your eyelids. Your eyelids are like curtains that cover your eyes to keep them safe and moist. Sometimes, some people have a little extra skin in the corner of their eyelids, which makes it look like their eyes are too close together. This is called an epicanthal fold or epicanthus.

Epicanthoplasty can fix this by removing a small amount of skin from the corner of the eyelid. This helps to make your eyes look wider apart, without changing the way you see.

First, the doctor will give you medicine so that you don't feel any pain or discomfort during the surgery. Then, the doctor will make a tiny incision in the corner of your eyelid, and remove a small amount of the extra skin. After that, they will stitch the incision back up with special thread that dissolves on its own, so you don't have to get the stitches removed later. Finally, the doctor will put a bandage on your eyelid to keep it clean and protected as it heals.

When your eyelid is healed, you will notice that your eyes look wider apart and that the epicanthal fold is less noticeable. You will also have to take care of your eyelid for a few days after the surgery, by keeping it clean and avoiding activities that may irritate it. But overall, epicanthoplasty is a safe and effective surgery that can help you feel more confident about your appearance.
