Epigenetics of neurodegenerative diseases

Epigenetics is like an instruction book for our cells. It tells them when to turn different genes on or off. Neurodegenerative diseases are diseases that make our brain cells lose their ability to think clearly over time. Epigenetics of neurodegenerative diseases means that some changes in the instruction book (epigenetics) may make it harder for our brain cells to work properly. This can happen when the instruction book tells our cells to turn the wrong genes on or off. For example, in Alzheimer's disease the wrong genes may be turned on and this can make it harder for our brain cells to do their job.
