Epoxy resins

Okay kiddo, have you ever played with Play-Doh before? Imagine that instead of being a soft, squishy material that you can mold and shape, there is another type of material that when mixed together in a certain way, becomes hard and strong like a rock! That material is called epoxy resins.

Epoxy resins are a type of plastic that are made up of two different parts - a resin and a hardener. Resin is like the "Play-Doh" part of the material that is soft and malleable, and the hardener is like the "activator" that starts a chemical reaction inside the resin that makes it harden.

When we mix the resin and hardener parts together, they start to chemically react and turn into a solid material. This can happen really quickly or slowly, depending on the specific type of epoxy resin you are using, and how much of each part you mix together.

Once the epoxy resin mixture is hardened, it becomes very strong and durable. It can be used for lots of different things, like coating or sealing surfaces, making jewelry, creating 3D art, or even fixing things like broken toys or appliances.

One thing to keep in mind when using epoxy resins is that they can be a bit tricky to work with. You have to make sure to mix the two parts together really well, or else the material may not harden properly. Epoxy resins can also be a bit smelly, so it's important to use them in a well-ventilated area and wear protective gear like gloves and a face mask.

Overall, epoxy resins are a cool material that can turn from a soft, squishy substance to a hard and durable material that can be used for a variety of different purposes!
