ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Equitation

Equitation is all about riding horses in a really good way. It's like playing an instrument but instead of playing music, you are controlling a really big and amazing animal.

To be good at equitation, you need to learn a lot of things about horses like how to communicate with them, take care of them and make them feel comfortable. You also need to learn how to sit on the horse in a way that helps the horse move easily and gracefully.

When riding a horse, you have to use your legs, hands and body to move them in different directions and make them go fast or slow. You also need to pay attention to where you are going, so you don't bump into anything or anyone.

In competitions, people who are really good at equitation show off their skills by riding their horses through a course and doing special movements like jumps, turns and spins.

So equitation is all about being really good at riding horses and working together with them to do cool things!
