ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Ergodicity

Ergodicity means that over time, the same result will happen no matter what order you do things in. It's like when you shake up a jar of coins and then dump it out on the table: no matter which order the coins come out in, you'll end up with the same number of heads and tails in the end. Ergodicity helps us understand that things that happen over time, like a coin flip, will eventually even out in the end, no matter which order they happen in.
