ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Eskimology

Eskimology is the study of the people who live in the Arctic regions of the world, like Alaska and Greenland. These people are called Eskimos or Inuit.

Now, imagine it's winter outside and it's really cold with lots of snow everywhere. Eskimos have been living in these conditions for a very long time and they have learned how to survive in these extreme temperatures. They have also learned how to hunt and fish for food and create shelter out of snow or ice.

Eskimology is about understanding how these people have adapted to living in the Arctic and how they interact with their environment. It's also about their history, their language, their traditions and their culture.

Scientists who study Eskimology use special tools like archaeology, linguistics and anthropology to learn more about these people. They might look at old artifacts from Eskimo tribes, study their language, and observe their way of life to gain new insights about their unique culture.

In summary, Eskimology is about learning all about the Eskimo people and the way they live in the cold Arctic regions of the world.
