Ethnic democracy is when a country has a certain group of people known as the majority (or dominant) group who hold most of the political power. This group usually has the same language, religion, or culture. They are usually the people making the laws and important decisions in the country. At the same time, minority groups are usually allowed to keep their own culture, language, and religion. Everyone is treated as equals, even though there is one group that has more power than the others.
