European Union–Turkey relations

The European Union (EU) and Turkey are like two friends who sometimes have disagreements but they still try to work together because it's better to be friends than enemies. Turkey is not a part of the EU, but it has been trying to become a member for a long time.

One of the disagreements between the EU and Turkey is about democracy and human rights. These things mean that everyone should be treated fairly and have a say in how their country is run. Sometimes, Turkey hasn't been very good at these things, and the EU has told them they need to do better if they want to be a member.

Another disagreement is about money. The EU gives Turkey a lot of money to help them with things like refugees and border control. But sometimes Turkey feels like they are not getting enough money or that the EU is not helping them enough.

Despite these disagreements, the EU and Turkey still try to work together because they both benefit from it. Turkey is a very important country because it connects Europe to Asia and the Middle East. This means that Turkey can help Europe with things like trade and security. And the EU can help Turkey with things like money and support for democracy.

So, even though the EU and Turkey sometimes argue, they still try to be friends because it's better to work together than to be enemies.
