Evolution as fact and theory

Evolution is a scientific fact and theory. A scientific fact is something that has been proven to be true, like the fact that the Earth is round. A scientific theory is an explanation of why something happens, based on evidence and research. Evolution is a scientific theory because it explains why living things change over time by natural selection. Natural selection is a process where living things that are better suited to their environment survive and reproduce, while those that are less suited do not. Over time, this causes changes in the species that can be seen in fossils, DNA, and other evidence. Evolution is a fact because the changes in species over time can be observed and we have tons of evidence to support it.
