Evolutionary multi-modal optimization

Evolutionary multi-modal optimization is like playing a game of guessing. It starts with a bunch of guesses for a certain problem. Then, the guesses that are not very good are thrown out, like some pieces of paper with your guesses on them being thrown into the trash. The guesses that are good keep going, like the pieces of paper with your guess on them making it through the game. Then, the guesses that are left are combined to make newer and hopefully better guesses. This happens over a few rounds until you get a guess that is very good.
