ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Ex Corde Ecclesiae

Ex corde ecclesiae means "from the heart of the church." It is a set of standards issued by the Catholic Church in 1990, and it's used to make sure that Catholic colleges and universities stay true to their values. It means that the schools must follow certain guidelines and teachings of the Church when it comes to things like acceptable courses and programs, who can teach and work there, and the expectations for their students. Basically, ex corde ecclesiae is about making sure that Catholic colleges and universities are teaching what is important to the Church and keeping Catholic values in the forefront.
