ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Excess-3

Excess-3 is a type of binary code used by computers. Binary code is a language made up of only two numbers, 0 and 1, that computers can understand. Excess-3 is a type of binary code that adds 3 to each number - so it has 0, 3, 1, 4, 2, 5 as its six possible numbers. This makes it easier for computers to understand and store information, like the 0 and 1 of regular binary code.
