ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Excludability

Okay kiddo, let me explain "excludability" simply to you. Imagine you have a pizza and you don't want to share it with anyone. You would try to "exclude" others from having it. So excludability means the ability to exclude or prevent someone from using or consuming something.

Let's take another example, the playground in your school. Only the kids who are studying in that school allowed to play in the playground, and others are not. This is an example of something that is excludable.

But, not everything is excludable. For instance, the air we breathe. You cannot keep anyone from breathing the same air as you're breathing. This is known as a non-excludable good.

So, some things are excludable, where you can stop someone from using it if they don't pay for it, while others are not excludable where it's hard to stop someone from using or consuming it. That's all there is to know, kiddo!
