ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Exner equation

Okay kiddo, do you remember when we learned about how we breathe in oxygen and breathe out carbon dioxide? Our bodies do this to get rid of waste and make energy.

Well, a smart person named Fritz Exner came up with a way to measure how much carbon dioxide is in our blood. He made a special formula called the Exner Equation to help doctors figure it out.

The formula uses numbers like your breathing rate, your body size, and the concentration of carbon dioxide in the air around you. It helps doctors figure out how much carbon dioxide is in your blood and if it's at a healthy level.

This is important because if there's too much carbon dioxide in our blood, it can make us feel sick or cause problems with our breathing. The Exner Equation helps doctors keep track of our health and make sure everything is working right. Cool, huh?
