Experimental filmmaking

Experimental filmmaking is like when you go into your backyard and play with all your toys in a new way that you've never played with them before. Just like how you can make something new out of your toys, people who make experimental films try to make something new out of movies.

Instead of using the normal way of filming, where everything is planned and organized, experimental filmmakers like to play with different camera angles, sounds, and colors to create different feelings and ideas. They might also use different materials to make their movies, like cutting up different pictures and putting them together to make a new picture.

The movies made by experimental filmmakers might not make sense to everyone, and that's okay! They are made to help people see things in a new way and to help people think about different ideas. Sometimes the movies can be funny, scary, or even feel like a dream.

Some people really like watching experimental films because they are like a puzzle that they can try to figure out. Others might not like them as much because they don't make as much sense as normal movies. But just like how you can have fun playing with your toys in a new way, experimental filmmaking is a way for people to have fun and be creative with movies!
