External memory (psychology)

External memory is a way for us to remember things. It's like taking a picture or making a note of something so that when you want to remember it later, you can look back at the picture or note. This is basically like taking a photograph with your camera or writing something down in a notebook so that you can remember it later. External memory is like having a tool to help you remember things.
