Extinction is when things no longer exist. It is when animals, plants, or even entire species no longer exist anywhere on the planet. That means that there are none left living anywhere in the world. Extinction happens when the environment or habitat is changed in a way that the species can no longer survive. The environment could change because of natural disasters, like volcano eruptions or floods, or because of humans changing the land, like cutting down too many trees and making a species of animal homeless.
