Extractive electrospray ionization

Extractive electrospray ionization is like using a magic wand to pick up tiny particles and turn them into electrically charged particles.

Imagine you have a wand that has a tiny hole in the middle, and you dip the wand into a mixture of tiny particles and a liquid. As you lift the wand out of the mixture, the liquid forms droplets around the hole in the wand.

Then, you use a special electric field to pull the tiny particles out of the droplets and turn them into electrically charged particles. These particles, called ions, can be captured and analyzed to learn more about the mixture.

It's kind of like fishing out different types of fish from a pond and studying them to learn more about the pond. Except instead of fishing, you're using a magic wand and instead of fish, you're studying tiny particles.
