Extrajudicial killings and forced disappearances in the Philippines

Okay, so you know how when you do something really bad, like you break your sister's toy or you hit someone, your parents might punish you so you learn not to do it again?

Well, imagine if your parents didn't punish you themselves, but instead, they hired someone to come and hurt or kill you instead. That's what's happening in the Philippines with something called extrajudicial killings.

This happens when the government or someone in power decides they don't like someone, like a drug user or a political activist, and they don't want to go through the normal legal process to punish them. Instead, they send people to kill them without a trial or anything. This is very scary because it means anyone could be killed for something they didn't do, or maybe for something that shouldn't even be a crime.

Forced disappearances are also really scary. It's like when your friend comes over to your house to play and you hide and don't tell them where you are. But with forced disappearances, someone is taken away and no one knows where they are. They might be in jail or they might be hurt or even dead, but no one can find them or help them. This is really bad because it means people can be taken away and hurt or killed and no one can help them or stop it.

Both extrajudicial killings and forced disappearances are really bad because they violate people's rights and get rid of people without giving them a chance to defend themselves or to have a fair trial. This is not how a fair and just society should work.
