Extreme points of the Caribbean

Okay, imagine you're at the beach and there's a big swimming pool. Now, think about the water in the swimming pool. There are certain points in the pool where the water is EXTREMELY high or low. We call these points "extreme points".

Now, let's talk about the Caribbean. The Caribbean is a beautiful region of islands, like a big playground surrounded by water. Just like the swimming pool, the Caribbean has extreme points too! But instead of water levels, we talk about things like the highest mountains or the deepest parts of the ocean.

One extreme point in the Caribbean is the highest mountain. Think of mountains as big bumps on the surface of the Earth. In the Caribbean, there is a mountain called Pico Duarte, which is the highest point in the region. It's like the biggest bump in the entire Caribbean playground!

But the Caribbean also has extreme points underwater. There are parts of the Caribbean Sea that are very deep, like the bottom of a swimming pool. One famous place is called the Cayman Trough. It's the deepest part of the Caribbean Sea where the water goes way down, just like when you dive to the bottom of the pool and touch the tiles.

Now, let's talk about extreme points on the edges of the Caribbean. The Caribbean is like a puzzle piece with other puzzle pieces coming together. At the very east of the Caribbean is an island called Barbados. It's like a little dot on the map but it's important because it's the easternmost point of the entire Caribbean region. It's like the last piece of the puzzle.

On the other side of the Caribbean, at the very west, is another important point called Isla Cozumel. It's a small island but it's the westernmost point of the Caribbean. It's like the first piece of the puzzle. So, together these two places mark the extreme points on either side of the Caribbean.

So, just like the extreme points in the swimming pool, the Caribbean has extreme points too – the highest mountains, the deepest parts of the sea, and even the most eastern and western points. Understanding these extreme points helps us explore and appreciate the wonderful diversity of the Caribbean!
