ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Eye colour

Your eyes are like camera lenses that you see the world through, and the color of your eyes is like the color of the lens.

Inside your eyes, there are tiny things called pigments that give your eyes their color. These pigments are called melanin and they come in different amounts and types.

If you have a lot of melanin in your eyes, they will probably be brown, and if you have less melanin, your eyes might be blue or green.

Sometimes, the amount and type of melanin in your eyes can change as you grow older or if you have certain medical conditions.

So, the color of your eyes is determined by the amount and type of pigments in your eyes!
