An eyepatch is a little cover that you put over one of your eyes. It goes by your eye like a little sticker or band-aid. People might wear an eyepatch for different reasons. Sometimes, when someone is hurt, their eye needs to rest and heal. An eyepatch can help keep the light out of that eye and let it rest. Other times, people might wear an eyepatch because they only have one eye that works well, and they want to keep that eye healthy. When they cover up the eye that doesn't work as well, they don't have to work so hard to see with the good eye. Sometimes people might wear an eyepatch because it makes them look cool or like a pirate. But no matter why someone wears an eyepatch, they should always make sure it fits well and doesn't hurt their eye.
