FBI–Apple encryption dispute

The FBI and Apple had a dispute about encryption. Encryption is a way of making sure that only certain people can read data. Apple had made their phones so that only the people who use the phone would be able to read the data. The FBI wanted Apple to make a way for them to read the phone's data, too. Apple said no because they wanted to protect people’s privacy. The FBI then said that Apple was helping people to hide bad things from them. Apple said that security was more important and that the FBI should find other ways to get the information they needed. After a lot of arguing, the FBI and Apple eventually found a way to work it out without Apple having to make the phone less secure.
