ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

FMRIa

FMRI stands for functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging. It is a type of brain scan used to measure the activity in different parts of the brain while someone is performing a task. The scans measure changes in blood flow to different parts of the brain. The more blood that flows to a particular part of the brain, the more active that area of the brain is at that particular time. FMRI can help doctors and scientists understand how the different parts of the brain work when someone is thinking, feeling, or reacting to something.
