ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

FR-1 (satellite)

You know how we use phones to talk to people who are far away from us? Satellites are like giant phones that we use to talk to people who are really, really far away – like across the entire world!

Satellites float up in space and orbit around the Earth. One of these satellites is called fr-1. It’s a special kind of satellite that helps people get internet access even if they live in really remote or hard-to-reach places.

How does fr-1 do this? It has a special kind of antenna on board that sends out signals to the Earth. These signals are like little messages that travel through the air and land in special boxes called receivers.

People can set up these receivers in their homes or businesses, and when they get the signals from fr-1, they can use their devices (like computers, phones, and tablets) to access the internet.

So, in a way, fr-1 is like a big internet bridge connecting people who live far away to the rest of the world. It’s very important for people who need to stay connected and do things like online learning, running their businesses, or communicating with loved ones who are far away.
