FTC regulation of behavioral advertising

The FTC (or Federal Trade Commission) is a government agency that helps people stay safe online. They make sure businesses follow certain rules and don't do anything unethical or illegal. One of the things they regulate is something called behavioral advertising which is when ads are shown to you based on things you have looked at or done online. The FTC wants to make sure companies aren't taking advantage of you by collecting your data and using it to show you ads. They make sure companies are transparent about how they collect and use data, keep it secure, and give you the choice to opt out.
