ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Fake likes

Okay kiddo, you know how when you post a picture or a video on your favorite app like Instagram or TikTok, you get something called "likes"? It's like a little button that tells you that someone likes or enjoys what you posted. Well, sometimes people cheat and get fake likes or pretend likes for their pictures and videos instead of real ones.

Fake likes are like pretend likes or fake friends that you can buy on the internet. It's like paying someone to be your friend instead of making real friends. Just like how you cannot force someone to be your friend by giving them candy, you cannot force people to like your posts by giving them fake likes.

Some people use fake likes to make it look like their pictures and videos are super popular, but they're not. It's like using magic tricks to make people think you're really good at something, but you're not. It's not fair and it's not honest because you're not really earning those likes, and it can make other people feel bad about their own pictures and videos.

But the good news is, you don't need fake likes to be cool or popular. Just be yourself and post things that you really like and are proud of. The real likes you get may not be as many as those with fake likes, but they are genuine and come from people who truly appreciate what you're doing. And that feels way better than something fake!
