False pretenses

False pretenses is when someone lies in order to get someone else to do something they wouldn't have done otherwise. It's like a game of pretend, but it's not okay because it can hurt people. It's like when you ask for a toy that your friend is playing with, and you say that your mom said it's okay for you to have it, even though she really didn't. That's not fair to your friend because they might give you the toy thinking it's okay, but then they might get in trouble when they find out you weren't telling the truth. It's important to always be honest, even if it doesn't get you what you want.
