ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Faris Odeh

Faris Odeh was a 14-year-old Palestinian boy who lived in the Gaza Strip. He was shot and killed by an Israeli soldier in October 2000 while he was throwing stones at Israeli soldiers during a protest demonstration.

The situation in the Gaza Strip was very complicated at that time. Israel had occupied the territory since 1967, and tensions between Israelis and Palestinians were high. Many Palestinians felt that Israel was treating them unfairly and were protesting for their rights.

During one of these protests, Faris was throwing stones at Israeli soldiers. Unfortunately, one of the soldiers fired a bullet at him, which killed him.

The incident sparked outrage among Palestinians, who saw it as yet another example of Israeli aggression. Many people in the region still remember Faris Odeh as a symbol of the struggle for Palestinian rights.

Overall, the situation in the Gaza Strip remains complex and contentious, with issues and challenges that are difficult to resolve. However, we can always hope for a peaceful and just resolution to these conflicts in the future.
