ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Fascism in Canada

Okay kiddo, let me explain fascism in Canada in a simple way. Fascism is a political ideology that believes in a strong, central government ruled by a dictator, who has all the power. This dictator wants to control everything, like the economy, the media, and even people's thoughts and beliefs.

In Canada, fascism was never adopted as an official political ideology, but some people and groups have supported fascist ideas in the past. During World War II, there were groups in Canada who supported Germany, which was a fascist country at the time.

These groups believed in things like racial purity and discrimination against certain groups of people, like Jewish people or people of different races. They didn't like democracy, where people have a say in who leads the country. Instead, they wanted one person to have all the power.

However, these fascist groups didn't have a lot of support in Canada and were mostly seen as extreme and dangerous. Nowadays, most Canadians value democracy and respect for all people, no matter their race, religion or beliefs. So, we can be proud that Canada has never embraced fascism as a political ideology.
