Fatima al-Fihri
Fatima Al-Fihri was a very important woman who lived a long, long time ago in the city of Fez in Morocco. She was a very smart lady who wanted to help her community, so she decided to use her money to create a special place where people could go to learn and study.
She wanted everyone to have the opportunity to learn, no matter where they came from or what they believed in. So she used her money to build the first-known university in the world, called the University of Al-Qarawiyyin.
