Fear mongering

Fear mongering is when people or groups try to scare people about something so that people do what they suggest. It's like trying to make people do what you want by telling them that bad things will happen if they don't do it. For example, someone might put out false information about the safety of a certain food or the safety of a certain place, or they might try to make people believe that something bad might happen if they don't vote a certain way. Fear mongering is like lying to people in a way to make them do what you want - it's wrong, and it's not a good way to get people to do things.
